Aussie-based filmmaker Dane Singleton has released another scintillatingly smooth surf video. Set along the South East Coast of Australia and the South island of New Zealand, Kicks features Bondi beach local, Pama Davies. The video opens to the smooth sounds of Lou Reed’s Kicks, which then features Davies as he gracefully barrels through an inviting right hand wave. The video begins to speed up as the Bondi-native performs cutbacks and frontside air reverses all to the precision of Singleton’s filmmaking and The Gun Club’s Sex Beat.
Many of Singleton’s edits feature a seamless blend of vintage and monochromatic shots, all set to the backdrop of a smooth playlist.
Kicks isn’t the first time these two surf professionals have worked together. They frequently collaborate, having shot a series of short vids together from PAMA., Hey. and the 2015 short, Love Buzz, for Haydenshapes Surfboards. Many of Singlton’s edits feature a seamless blend of vintage and monochromatic shots, all set to the backdrop of a smooth playlist.
As for Davies, the once, self-funded surfer has been blowing up over the last few years. He looks to continue this trend of domination as he’s accumulated a series of sponsors, from Haydenshapes to Globe, look to this young Bondi-native to make waves in the coming years.
