Japanese fashion designer and mastermind behind the heritage streetwear brand Undercover, Jun Takahashi, joined forces with Nike over six years again when audiences were first introduced to the Gyakusou apparel line. The name Gyakusou stems from Japanese terms ‘Gyaku’ meaning wrong way or reverse and ‘sou’ meaning ‘run or running,’ which is a reference to those running counter-clockwise while the rest of Tokyo’s runners run clockwise in the city’s lush forested parks– a play on counter-culture which Takahashi is well-known for, having started the Undercover brand in 1990 heavily inspired by punk idealogies and counter-cultural aesthetics.

Takahashi’s affinity for attention to detail is accented, making sure to emphasize a focus on detailing and adjustability.

Within this newly unveiled collection, Takahashi’s affinity for attention to detail is accented, making sure to emphasize a focus on detailing and adjustability to various weather conditions and climates. With this in mind, Takahashi has incorporated a new Quickburst Zipper along with removable sleeves for adapting to whatever conditions arise. Standout pieces from the collection include the Zipoff Aeroloft jacket which utilizes Nike Aeroloft technology to retain heat until the body begins to produce its own, allowing excess heat and moisture to be diverted away from the garment as well as the Gyakusou AeroReact Zip Hoodie, Track Jacket, FlyVent Shorts and the NikeLab Gyakusou LunarEpic Flyknit Trainer which features a water-resistant Flyknit upper and traction-enhancing outsole.

The winter 2016 Holiday NikeLab Gyakusou range will be available beginning November 10 online and at select NikeLab locations.
